LOUD SHIRT DAY – FRIDAY 20TH OCTOBER

SRC is proud to host Loud Shirt Day at EMPS on Friday the 20th of October

Please join in the fun, wear a LOUD shirt and donate a gold coin to show your support.

Your gift will help the centre in your state give deaf children sound and speech. Your support will open doors to better education and employment choices and social integration.

Loud Shirt Day is a positive excuse to wear your brightest clothes and raise money to help give the gift of sound and speech to deaf children. Whether you fancy stripes, florals, polka dots or paisley, as long as your clothes have colour and pizzazz, it will be perfect for Loud Shirt Day.

Primary Schools Festival of Music

On the 16th September, our choir students performed on stage at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre as part of the Public Primary Schools Festival of Music.

This year, for the first time in many years, the choir was composed of over a 1000 students returning to the past, when the choral festival was known as The Thousand Voice Choir.

Our school was also represented by Emersyn.P who was part of the troupe and Sophie.C and Aaliyah.C who were selected to sing a solo on the night.

The Primary Schools Festival of Music, an official state icon, is a public school-based music education program which is collaboration between DECD and the SAPPS Music Society, which gives all SA public primary students the opportunity to perform at a prestigious venue.

This year the Festival started with a big bang, as an “Arena Percussion Group” opened the concert while all 1000 students filed onto stage. The commissioned work was entitled “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” which was a series of five songs based around the popular classical composition “The Nutcracker Suite”, and the concert ended with the pop song “Live Louder”.

In between there were a number of Assisting Artists from public primary and secondary schools, other choir items that presented different musical genre, and two pieces that specifically showcased the talents of the orchestra.

It was a spectacular event that our students enjoyed being a part of.

Thank you Ms Poli for all your fantastic work with the choir.
